Re-Education of the Eyes – 30 minutes
This Awareness Through Movement© lesson is 30 minutes long, including an introduction explaining what it is and how to do it. The lesson is done lying down on the floor (with a mat or on something comfortable but hard) or in whatever position is comfortable and do-able for the student. Featured are slow movements of the eyes closed and opened, sometimes done in the imagination. There are no other movements, aside from standing, turning a little to the left and the right and walking. There are frequent pauses or slow speech to give time students to go slowly and experience their movement.
AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT© is done slowly, with real curioisity of the process. A desire to respect ones boundaries, rather than achieve a movement, perfection or a certain posture. Rather, students seek to learn about themselves, what works for their self entirely.
Movements done can range from so small it may just be happening in the imagination, so small the moving part does not lift off the floor, so small no one around would see the movement or bigger and with absolute ease. Movements are small and painful; we go smaller, movements that are big and painful, we go smaller. Small easy movements are what we look for in this method.
Enjoy.
"I loved how Andréa offered us different movement exercises that gave me a lot of insight on how I move through the world; even if we were on zoom, I could feel their presence and kindness. They were very generous in their teaching and support during and after classes. "
